Life Documented 2019 20 Minute Journaling Challenge

Hi all! It's been a long time since I've posted anything here, but today I have something to share (and when I actually took the time to write a post!). I finally have another art video up on YouTube. This time it's my take on Week 3 of the Life Documented 2019 prompt. The challenge was to create for 20 minutes.

As I was preparing this post, my boys were watching former NASA engineer Mark Rober's videos on YouTube. The specific video was about kids' science projects and education, and he said something that really spoke to me, and it applies to this prompt as well. He quotes Tina Seelig: Creativity is applying your imagination to address a challenge. This requires both imagination and experimentation." Wow. I thought you'd all like it too, so I've picked that as my quote, and I think it fits well with the challenge: to only allow yourself 20 minutes to create something. It sure challenged me, and we all need to flex those creative muscles, right? :) If you're interested, HERE IS THE VIDEO.

FOLLOW THE LINK TO MY POST ON THE LIFE DOCUMENTED 2019 HERE.

Thanks for visiting, hope you can get in twenty minutes of art time soon! :)

Life Documented 2018 Week 33 Guest Post and Weekly Views

Hi! I have a tutorial on the Life Documented 2018 blog. Come see, come see! :)

See it HERE!

So, my weekly views for week 33 in my unPlanner is ready to fill in, starting with Sunday. I added a fun paper clip this morning, and now I'm having so much fun! It hearkens a bit back to scrapbooking, which is such a part of me yet. :)

I have been making lots of marbled paper, and I've found a way to use them here. See the blog post at the Life Documented Blog for the link to the YouTube video - it was that video that got me into using the shaving cream method! :)

Washi tape is by Rae Missigman. She has delightful art marks kits that comes with the washi. Most of the month tabs are from this kit, too.

Black Grungy Art Video Tutorial

Hello all!

I'm back for a bit here, linking you to a video tutorial I made for Roben-Marie Smith's design team. It's my first project as design team member, and I'm very excited about it!

Watch me how I use black cardstock to make the pages, create cute pockets for each signature, decorate the Art Pop cards for tags, create the cover and stitch the pages together and more.

It'll be fun! (And not hard!)

Check it out here: Roben-Marie Smith's Blog

Lots of happy metallic thread peeking out!

Luscious yarn for the tags.

If you make your own, I'd love to see them on Instagram! Tag it with #blackgrungyartjournal

Have a great day!

Urban Fringe Pop-up Journal Class by Roben-Marie Smith

Hi peeps!

I want to show you the book I made in a fun class by Roben-Marie Smith I just finished. It's called the Pop-up Fringe Journal. Loving the results! It will be so fun to work up artsy grunginess in this interactive journal!

Starting April 22, Roben-Marie will host a ten-day journaling challenge, which I hope to participate in, and I plan to house it right here in this yummy journal. Go HERE to get the deets. :)

Full of ribbons, tags, pockets and envelopes!

The girl stamp is from a lovely set that is in her Paperbag Studios shoppe. It is available HERE.

Included her fun Urban Grunge Art-Pops in places!

Three elastics to hold it all together.

This was enormous amounts of fun! I highly recommed the class. :)

Life Documented 2017 Week 4

Hi, lovelies!
I'm back with another project started. It's a spin-off of the last 3 years of The Documented Life Project.

Come join us on the

The first year I did this, I made my own journal, second year I used a Dylusions, third year 4 kraft binders, and this year it is the Moleskine, as demonstrated by the Art5 ladies in 2014. I have decided to try this method. We'll see how it goes. I could not make up my mind if I wanted to do it, but seeing the lovely community on the Facebook group, I wanted to join in the fun, so here I am!
A little late, as I didn't get my Moleskine shipped until the 27th (Which also happens to be on my birthday!), so I jumped right in to the present week, and then go back to fill in the first part of the year if I have the time.

So Week 4:

For the numbers: I used foam stamps, paint, paint markers, and some shadowing with the black Stabilo All pencil.

I used fine tipped paint pens by Sharpie for the journaling.

I made a tip-in, using a piece of gorgeous underpaper, and gold washi-tape for the binding.

Here it is with the flap open.

I added memorabilia from the week. Some items were cut out from birthday cards I received.

The far right and the Moleskine page on left is a stenciled background.

Fun stencils from StencilGirl.

January 2017 Club stencils by Mary Beth Shaw for the images on the right.

March 2013 Club on left.

The pink circle art on the right is a fun art piece I had torn and cut up. It came out of an old art junque journal I work in occasionally.

My daughter made the beautiful party invite and put on a big hubaloo at my twin's house. IT WAS PERFECT IN EVERY WAY. In love. In a state of euphoria of the absolute perfection my daughter and niece organized to treat us on our 40th. Many friends and family came. I will never forget. :)

Loving the gold patterned washi tape by Recollections!

The little metallic cabbage rose is cut out from a birthday card.

Swirls of the finger to create the rose, paint dots in places, a little bit of brush-work for the leaves, and it's done!

Many layers went into this piece, and it started as my underpaper! Here is a pic of how it originally looked:

I didn't do the challenge this week, but we'll see what I can come up with next week.

And there's a quick summary of my week 4. Looking forward to documenting Week 5. :)

Thanks for stopping by. :)
